Organizes Time, Space, & Interaction

Good teachers create classroom environments that are conclusive to learning. English teachers should provide a safe and inclusive environment for interaction that promotes intellectual engagement and opportunities for all students to grapple with significant questions in the discipline. English teachers recognize that discourse is the engaging that drives all learning. Classroom interaction is the result of planning wisely, with the intersection of students and content in mind. This involves staying focused on relevant information and activities, and warrants attention to the physical classroom environment, the use of time, and the purposeful use of appropriate technology.

On the right there is a survey about group work and discussion expectation. The teaching artifact demonstrates my ability to organize a class. Allowing students to participate in the survey promoted an inclusive environment for interaction because students had an opportunity to take ownership of how they learn, which encourages emotional investment and engagement.

Here is an example of how I may appropriately integrate technology into one of my lessons. The picture on the left is a screenshot of a jeopardy game that I created as a means of reviewing vocabulary for an upcoming vocabulary test on advance placement discourse terms. The study frame engaged students because it is a direct call to a contemporary game show.
